Should you choose Spreeflo or Klaviyo?

Klaviyo is built for direct-to-consumer commerce and it is very good at it. Its Shopify integration runs two ways across orders, products and browse behavior, its predictive models score lifetime value and churn risk per profile, revenue attribution lands on every flow, and every feature is available on every paid tier rather than laddered upward.

The complaint is the bill, and it is loud. Since February 2025 Klaviyo bills on total stored active profiles rather than the contacts you actually email, which includes addresses captured at checkout by people who never opted into marketing — users have described invoices moving from $39 to over $200 overnight. Its Trustpilot rating of 1.8 is almost entirely billing. At 5,000 profiles that is roughly $100/mo, against $36 for Spreeflo.

On the behavioral core the two are closer than the price gap suggests. Custom events, real-time segment conditions, journeys that branch and merge, engagement checks mid-flow — Spreeflo does all of it, for any business rather than only a store, and adds three things Klaviyo does not sell: browser push (Klaviyo’s push is mobile app push, which needs an app), forms with unlimited responses on a free plan, and AI that writes copy per individual recipient at send time. You give up predictive scoring and SMS, and you stop paying for profiles you never email.

What Spreeflo is

Spreeflo is an AI-powered marketing automation platform for founders and small teams — email, browser push notifications, forms and web analytics on one contact record, from $16/mo ($13 billed annually). Its AI writes per-recipient personalization at send time, an in-app AI assistant builds automations from plain language, and a hosted MCP server lets Claude, Claude Code or Cursor operate the whole workspace — while sends, publishes and deletes always require a person.

Founder-led businesses, one workspace. Sends, publishes and deletes always require a person — including when an AI agent is doing the building.

Where Spreeflo and Klaviyo differ

The two tools are built around different assumptions, so some of what Klaviyo covers has no Spreeflo equivalent. Here is exactly what that is, who it actually matters for, and what Spreeflo does in its place.

A native two-way Shopify integration

Orders, products, catalogues and browse behavior sync both directions, with BigCommerce and the rest of the commerce stack alongside. Spreeflo has no native commerce connector — store events reach it as custom events through the API, which is more setup and works for any platform rather than a supported list.

Predictive scoring

Lifetime value, churn risk and predicted next order date, computed per profile and usable in segments. Spreeflo has no predictive modelling; it segments on behavior you can inspect and explain — pages viewed, events fired, templates engaged with in a given window — rather than on a model output.

SMS and MMS

A mature text channel that many DTC brands run as a primary revenue driver. Spreeflo has none, and puts its second channel where there is no per-message cost: browser push, included at $24/mo however many you send.

Revenue attribution wired to store orders

Every flow and campaign reports the revenue it produced, straight from the order data Klaviyo already syncs. Spreeflo attributes revenue too — last-touch and linear models with a lookback window, fed by Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Polar or Paddle — so it works for subscriptions and services, not only a storefront.

Proven at very large scale

A public company with brands running hundreds of thousands of profiles through it. Spreeflo is built for founder-sized volumes — where Klaviyo’s stored-profile billing does the most damage, because it charges for every address a checkout ever captured.

Where Spreeflo comes out ahead of Klaviyo

6 of 26 scored rows go Spreeflo’s way — for these reasons:

This is the closest comparison in the set: eighteen of the twenty-four scored rows are ties. Spreeflo’s wins are specific rather than broad — billing that ignores profiles you never email, $36/mo at 5,000 contacts against about $100, browser push where Klaviyo’s push is mobile-app only and needs an app to exist, forms with unlimited responses on a free plan, bot-traffic reporting, and AI that writes copy for each individual recipient rather than once per campaign.

Spreeflo is a marketing automation platform rather than a CRM, a page builder or an SMS gateway. The comparison above marks every row where that shows — nothing is hidden in a footnote.
